Vania Jaikin Miyazaki is a director and producer of films and sound works, an artist and a curator. In 2007 she began producing short documentaries, short fiction films and music videos with HandMade Films.
Attentive to the way artists relate to the world, she has directed several portraits of them, approached through technology (“Nourathar”, 2014, Visions du Réel), cinema (“Nice Time(s)”, 2015), meditation (“Charles Lloyd, Dreamer in Sound”, 2016) or provocation (“Chronique d’une performance”, 2025), constantly questioning the human condition.
In her short fiction films, meanwhile, she develops a personal universe centred on misfit women in search of freedom.
Since 2019 she has worked with Mnemosyn Films, producing two films by Charlie Petersmann: “Rois Mages” (Solothurn, Winterthur) and “À Ciel Ouvert” (Solothurn), both dealing with exclusion and life on the social margins.
Since 2022 she has worked with the collective Écran Mobile, where she produces Laura Gabay’s “Habiter le monde”, pitched at festivals including Ji.Hlava, Zinegoak, DocsBarcelona and Cannes in 2026.
Among her personal explorations: for the audio diary “L’Apparition des coquillages” (2022), she walked 2,000 km without money to study humanity and uncover a few laws of the universe. In the audio documentary “Mourir c’est pas si grave”, broadcast on RTBF in spring 2026, she investigates consciousness and death.
Alongside her film and sound work, she also pursues a curatorial practice in contemporary art and new technologies.
